Scrap Our Stash - April Sketch with Stash Challenge

Hi there - I am up a little late with this post as I spent part of the weekend out of town due to my aunt's mom passing away.  She was in her late 70's but it is still tough whenever you lose a parent so wanted to be there for my aunt, uncle and cousin. So that has thrown my schedule off a bit this weekend.

Anyways, here are the guidelines for the Sketch with Stash Challenge #13:

Create a layout inspired by the sketch below and you must include the following stash items:
a) 3 or more patterned papers from 3 or more different collections and/or manufacturers.
b) 3 or more embellishments from 3 different collections and/or manufacturers.
c) Include one or more of the following items on your layout:
Corkboard, Chalkboard, or Corrugated board.
(This item does not count as one of your embellishments)
***When uploading your layout on your blog or gallery, you must list the collections/mfgs of each item you used for items in the A & B categories as well as note what item you used from the C category
Here's the April Sketch:

Here is my take on the challenge:

I started this layout with the Echo Park All About a Boy collection. It went perfectly with this photo of my oldest when he was just 5 months old! I added in papers to the Echo Park collection from Basic Grey, Jillibean Soup and One Little Bird for Studio Calico. My embellishments came from the Echo Park sticker sheet, a cutout from Elle's Studio (My Boy), and cork chevrons from Studio Calico. I incorporated cork by using cork thickers, stars die cut from cork paper and the Studio Calico chevrons. My layout stayed pretty close to the sketch - just changing up a few elements.

Would you like to play and join in the fun? You are more than welcome.
Entries close at 11:59 PM (PST) April 29th.

Scrap Our Stash Challenge Layout for April

Hi All - I am a little late with this but I was thinking my day for the Scrap Our Stash blog was today but it was yesterday - oops! Anyways, there is still plenty of time to join the challenge so here goes.  The challenge this month is a Spring Challenge:

Here's how this challenge works:
Create a Spring Layout using spring colors and include the following Pre made/packaged items from your stash:  Paperclip(s), Journal card and at least one 3D embellishment.
DUE: 4/29/2014 midnight PST
You are allowed to add whatever else you want to your layout as long as you meet the requirements above.
And one more important thing...click HERE for the SOS Challenge Guidelines!!!

Here is my take on this challenge:

"When I think of a Scrapbook line with spring colors, I immediately think of Dear Lizzy. I used a lot of her Neapolitan and 5th & Frolic collections on this layout of my niece, Micah, and me. For the 3D embellishment, I added some butterfly embellishments from Basic Grey. I used a paperclip to hold the "2" in place. The journaling card I used was originally a 3x4 card that I cut in half. I wrote my journaling and added it to the lower left corner. I finished the layout off with a stitched banner."

Make sure to check out the Scrap Our Stash blog. This month there is great prizes from Your Scrapbook Stash!

Use my Stash-Layout 3 using Dear Lizzy

Hi All - Well I have been really bad at posting my "Use My Stash" layouts and to be honest, I have been scrapbooking but mainly using my kits. I have found that I make a lot more layouts when I stick to one kit and then throw in my older stash as needed. I subscribe to Studio Calico kits and so far this year I have made 10 layouts from January's kit Copper Mountain, 6 layouts from February's kit Sugar Rush and 5 layouts from March's kit Office Hours. I have also made other layouts that I have mostly showed here but in total, I have made 31 layouts so far this year! That is quite a lot for me and it has helped to start with my kits and go from there...

Anyways - Today I am sharing a layout I made with some older Dear Lizzy I had in my stash. Most of the items are from Neapolitan and 5th & Frolic. The Neapolitan I used is actually mostly from a paper pad I bought at Michael's that was re-branded for their stores and I bought a lot of the 5th & Frolic at Joann's and TJ Maxx. Here is the layout:

This is of my grandpa and my niece Micah when she was a baby. I actually pulled out and used part of the stitched banner on another layout I will be sharing later, so I covered up the "hole"  in the middle with patterned paper and then added my photo and other layers on top. The gold thickers are from Maggie Holmes' first line for Crate Paper and are some of my favorite!

Hope you have a happy Friday - Thanks for stopping by!
