Gossamer Blue - October Kit layouts

I wanted to share the layouts I have made with the Gossamer Blue October Main Scrapbook kit. I just started subbing this month and just got the main kit - There is a lot in this kit! I made 5 layouts with mostly the kit and also made a Project Life spread and a card. I may show the PL page later but the card was basically a copy of one of the DT cards so don't really feel as though I should share :) - you can see the CT card (by Joy Taylor) HERE. I still have quite a few items left in the kit. I may make a few more cards or layouts or just break it up and add it to my stash - I haven't decided just yet :)

Here are my five layouts posted in the order I made them- I have included below items added from my stash:

Stash items - Tag

Stash items - vellum
(Inspired/Lifted from THIS LAYOUT by Mel Blackburn on the CT team)

Stash items - used Silhouette Cameo to cut title, MME buttons

Stash items - Red Copic marker to change color of letter stickers, Striped Fabric Tape from Maya Road; Puffy Stickers from Gossamer Blue On My Desk, Tag, Enamel Dots, Red and Blue Patterned papers (behind the photo)

Stash items - Orange and Grey Copic marker to change color of letter stickers, Arrow wood veneer, circle die/punch

As you can see, I really did not have to add a lot from my stash for these layouts. You can check out what other Members have made using this kit HERE.

Scrap Our Stash - Sketch Challenge for October 2014

I have not felt the best this week so just now sharing my layout for the Scrap Our Stash Sketch Challenge this month. I ended up scrapbooking a picture of me and my sweet NEW nephew, Asher. Here it is:

I have to admit, I procrastinated this challenge as looking at all those colors kind of intimidated me, but then I began to just focus on a few and it got a lot easier! For my layout, I pulled together papers using four of the colors and went from there. The colors I used were Misted Yellow, Royal Blue, Aluminum and Aurora Red - the tags also have a little bit of Cognac. I flipped parts of the sketch and made an 8 1/2 x 11 layout instead of the 12 x 12 in the sketch. I added sewing and a few embellishments and called it done!

Here is the sketch and the color challenge that goes along with it:

If you want to enter the challenge, you have until tonight to play along this month's prize is as follows:

Scrap Our Stash - Stash Challenge #19 - BINGO

Scrap Our Stash's Stash Challenge this month is to create a new layout and choose any row (vertical, horizontal, or diagonal) from the bingo card provided and add those items to your layout.  Please note in your blog write up, which row you used to complete your layout.  You can use additional items as well.

Here is the Bingo Card:

For this challenge, I scrapped a picture of my cute (yet serious) niece. The elements I added are from the "B" Column on the Bingo card, which are as follows: Stick Pin - Yellow Flower pin; Rhinestones - black and clear; Arrow - red and grey chipboard; Polka dot paper - Yellow with white polka dots; and Journal card - Grey card at the top cut down and used for journaling. This was a fun challenge and got to use a lot of stash items on this page!

The layout uses paper and supplies from various Studio Calico kits.

This month the prize is as follows:

Scrap Our Stash - Sketch Challenge #18

I am very late getting this post up sharing my Scrap Our Stash layout for the Sketch Challenge #18. Let's just say that September has been tough! My busiest time at work is August - October 15th and Brian is in the middle of football so basically we are purely in survival mode around here! Mid-October cannot come soon enough for me!

The Scrap Our Stash challenge I am sharing is over and a new challenge is up but nonetheless, I thought I would share my layout and the sketch. I loved this sketch as it was not one that was something I would think to use but ended up really liking my layout. So here is the sketch and my layout:

This was one of my favorite sketches yet, and I loved how it worked with my pictures! For my A-B-C stash items, I used an ampersand embellishment, brads, and chipboard heart and stars. I have not used a brad in a long time so glad this challenge got me to dig in my stash!

Be sure to check out the current challenge at Scrap Our Stash - HERE.

Scrap Our Stash - Stash Challenge #18 - Back to School

This week has been busy busy busy! I love the fall but it is truly our busiest time of the year! Anyways, I am popping in to share my layout for the Scrap Our Stash - Stash Challenge #18 - Back to School. The challenge is as follows:

For this challenge you are required to shop your scrap stash for school supplies, create a layout and include the school supplies on your page found on the lists below:

(1) or more items from list A:
Lined or ruled paper (striped paper does not count)
Chalkboard paper
Dictionary paper or a page from a book

AND…
(3) or more items from list B:
File Folder
Library Pocket and/or card
Pencil or pen
Paper Clip
Alphas
Numbers
Apple
Book
Ruler
Chalkboard embellishment

When uploading your layout, please list the items you used from both lists.
You can use additional items, and your layout does not have to be school themed.

Even though the layout does not have to be school themed, I ended up doing a school layout. Here is my take on the Challenge:

"For this challenge, I decided to scrapbook my oldest's first official day of Pre-K.
I used a lot of the Studio Calico August Kit on my layout.
The lined notebook paper was perfect for the background and challenge guidelines.
For my other 3 stash items, I added alphas, an arrow paperclip and a number die cut."

The sponsor this month is My Kreative Pursuits. The prize is their You Make Me Happy September Workshop Kit:

My Kreative Pursuits is not only awarding our September winner their September Workshop Kit, they are also offering a 20% discount for SOS followers as long as supplies last.
You can use coupon code SOSSept to get it.

We would love to see your take on the challenge. Just link up your blog post or gallery image at the Scrap Our Stash blog and you will be entered to win this month's prize.

Layouts made with Studio Calico Penny Arcade

In the month of August, a few of us at Studio Calico worked to "kill" (i.e. use up) some of our kits. I ended up "killing" three different kits - Double Scoop, Valley High and Sandlot. I really enjoyed challenging myself to use up my kits so I have decided to keep going into September. Today, I am sharing the layouts I have made with Penny Arcade so far. I ended up buying quite a bit of extras with Penny Arcade - so it may take a bit to "kill". I added in my PL and card embellishments with my scrapbook kits but my main goal is to use up the papers in my scrap kit and a good amount of the embellishments. You will also notice that I add items from my stash, as well.

Here are the 5 layouts I have made so far:

For this layout, I placed the transparency triangles from the kit on a pink part of one of the patterned papers, cut around it and then sewed the transparency to the paper.

I hand cut the "SILLY" title on this layout and then used my sewing machine to stitch down the letters.

For this layout, I used the Studio Calico Sunday Sketch and lifted quite a bit from Marcy Penner's  Paint layout that was used for the sketch.

I have not done a large photo on a layout in awhile and had a couple of cute pictures of the boys so decided to do some large photo layouts. This one is off Max. I kept it fairly simple. The journaling is printed on vellum and then stitched down with my sewing machine.

This one is of Eli. Again, I kept it fairly simple. I inked the wood veneer letters with a prima chalk edger before adhering them to the layout.

Well, that is all for now. I will update as I complete more layouts.

Scrap Our Stash - Sketch with Stash Challenge #17

I am sharing my layout for the Scrap Our Stash - Sketch with Challenge this month. This one was definitely tough for me as the Challenge is to use older stash. Here is the challenge:

Complete a layout inspired by the sketch above...
AND...75% of the product used to create your page must be from some of your OLDEST stash of paper and embellishments..the older the better.
You must note in your write up, what products you used from your older stash!

Here is my take on the challenge:

I have de-stashed a lot of my older stash of products, so it took me a little bit to figure out my oldest products. I went through some of my paper and found some American Crafts "Play" paper, and this has to be some of my oldest. I also added in some felt flowers and letters stickers from American Crafts. There are a few "newer" embellishments added in, but most of this is definitely old!

This month's prize is from Nani Ke Ola who is giving away ONE 7 Dots collection pack from the choices below:

To be entered to win the prize, just link up a layout at Scrap Our Stash that meets the challenge criteria. We would love to see your take on the challenge.

Scrap Our Stash - Stash Challenge #17

The Stash Challenge at Scrap Our Stash this month is to create a layout using a selfie photo and for the stash item, you must use a premade/packaged frame.

Here is my take on the challenge:

For this challenge, I used a selfie I took of me and my son, Max. Instead of using the frame to go around the picture, I used it to frame the title. The supplies are mainly from Crate Paper by Maggie Holmes and an older Studio Calico kit - Valley High.

Scrap Our Stash - Sketch with Stash Challenge #16

This month's Sketch with Stash Challenge at Scrap Our Stash is to make a layout inspired by the following sketch and use ribbon or trim on your layout:

Here is my take on the challenge:

For my layout, I used a picture of my son blowing bubbles. He thinks he is so big now that he can blow bubbles by himself...well, when he is not spilling them! For my ribbon or trim, I added a ribbon in the shape of a banner to the right side of the photo. For my supplies, I started with an older Studio Calico kit - Double Scoop and then added various items from my stash.

The July sponsor is Queen Kat aka Kate Blue and she is gifting a $25 gift certificate to Paper Issues.

Studio Calico Double Scoop - Killed kit!

I mentioned early this week that there is a thread on the Studio Calico message boards where some of us are working to "kill" (i.e. use up) some of our older kits. I decided to start with Double Scoop which is the kit from last September. My goal was to use up what I had left of the kit. I had made two previous layouts (that I could find!) using the kit. They are HERE and HERE. Besides the kit, I added in some paper from my stash that was in some of the add-ons (or similar) and embellishments from my stash. Also, I did take out the frames from the kit and purge those - They just are not something I wanted to use so didn't force myself. Here are my projects: (Also, sorry the pictures are not the best ever but easier to just take with my iPhone :)!)

I also made one other layout that is for my Scrap Our Stash sketch challenge this month so I will be posting that on Sunday. Here is what I have left of the main kit:

My next kit is going to be Valley High. I got the Valley High kit in the Black Friday sale at Studio Calico, so I don't think I have touched it at all. Have you "killed" any kits lately? If so, I would love to see! Thanks for stopping by!

Layout for Mama Elephant Challenge

Mama Elephant has lately become one of my favorite stamp companies. I honestly think I could find some way to use every single stamp set they have - though I have limited myself to just a few sets! My all time favorite set is the Up and Away stamp set (and I used it on my layout below). It is super cute and so versatile!

Mama Elephant has just started a new challenge blog called Mama Elephant and Me and their first challenge is to create a project using a Mama Elephant stamp that is inspired by the following image:

I decided to make a birthday layout for the challenge. I don't normally stamp too much on my layouts so this was a "double" challenge for me. I used the Mama Elephant Up and Away Stamp Set and the Wake A Wish Stamp Set.

To create the title block, I first stamped the Monkey and Balloons from the Up and Away Stamp Set and colored the images with Copic Markers. I then stamped the "Go and Celebrate" sentiment from the Make A Wish Stamp Set on vellum with VersaMark ink and then embossed it with white embossing powder. I layered the vellum over my image. The rest of the layout came together fairly quickly using various items in my stash in the light blue, orange, green and yellow color scheme.

I hope this inspires you to use some stamps on your layout. Thanks for stopping by!

Layouts using Studio Calico Hello, Hello kits

I am sharing a couple of more layouts I made MOSTLY with the Studio Calico Hello, Hello main scrapbook kit and Add-on kits. I am never one to limit myself only to the kit contents, so you will definitely see items from other Studio Calico kits and other items from my stash in my layouts.

This layout is a lift of Maggie Holmes Love This layout - which you can see HERE. Her layout is all girl and  as you can see, mine uses more boy elements.

This layout really shows the bright colors from the Hello, Hello kits. I "toned down" the bright background paper a bit by adding vellum over the top of most of it.

This kit is definitely VERY far from being "killed" (i.e. used up) as I bought quite a few add-ons this month and got the wrong one sent to me (which SC made right so I got an extra kit). My kits are starting to pile up so I plan to stick to the two main kits I now get (scrapbook and PL) for awhile until I use up some of my stash. There is a thread over at Studio Calico on "killing kits" so feel free to join us if you have some kits to "kill".

Congrats cards - Using The Greeting Farm stamps

Happy Monday - I am sharing three cards I made using The Greeting Farm stamps I colored with Copic markers. We had promotions at work and three people in my department were promoted, who happened to all be girls. I used that as an opportunity to make some cute girl cards!

The Greeting Farm stamp sets I used were Miss Anya Summer, Miss Anya Collection, and Miss Anya Night Out. I used a lot of various other products on these. If you have any specific questions on other products used, leave me a comments or send me an email.

The challenge is as follows:

From the shopping list below, shop for (5 or more) different items in your stash.
Create a layout and include those (5) items on your page. Each item will only count as one, for example: a wood veneer polaroid frame will only count as a frame or as wood veneer, you decide. If you choose arrows you must use (3) but it only counts as 1 of the 5 items on the list.
*Make sure you include in your blog write up the (5) items you used, to be eligible for the monthly prize drawing.

You are allowed to add anything else you desire to complete your page!

Here is the shopping list:
Washi tape
Stars (3 or more)
Striped Paper (not lined)
Enamel Dots (3 or more)
Polaroid Frame
Buttons (3 or more)
Flag
Dimensional sticker
Paper Clip
Arrows (3 or more)

Journaling card
Sequins (3 or more)
Use (2) or more types of punches

Here is my take on the challenge, which you can also see at the Scrap Our Stash blog HERE:

For this challenge, I scrapped a picture I took from our vacation this summer at the beach. The stash items I used - which ended up being more than 5 - were striped paper, 3 arrows, cork embellishment, journal card, flair, tags, and die cuts. I also was able to use some of my new Studio Calico Hello, Hello kit and a Gossamer Blue kit I bought last summer for this challenge. I love when I can combine "older" with new!
